The Yolanda Kramer Kindergarten
In the President's report published in the August-September, 1964 edition of 'The Centre' we read that "The present building ... is beginning to deteriorate into a state of disrepair." The building referred to is the old mansion that stood on the property when it was first purchased. In the same report we read that "The claims conference have granted this community a sum of money, provided a new building is started this year ...".
From these beginnings grew the Yolanda Kramer Kindergarten, which served the local community continuously until the synagogue was sold. Many grandchildren of the 'founding fathers' passed through the kindergarten on their way to prominent positions in the wider community today. This page is dedicated to their stories.
All contributions to this page would be welcome, especially photographs and first-person accounts by former pupils of the kindergarten.
The press clipping immediately below reports the opening of the kindergarten and the history of its funding and construction.
