Welcome to this site. It was set up to celebrate a unique Jewish community. Officially, it was known as the Strathfield and District Hebrew Congregation but those of us who were associated with it, knew it simply as the 'Strathfield Synagogue' or 'The Centre'.
On 31st August 2013, Strathfield Synagogue closed its doors for the last time. In February 2015 the property was sold. While the ultimate fate of the buildings is unknown, these are but the outer shell of what was once a vibrant and flourishing community. The shell may finally be transformed into something that we will no longer recognise, but the spirit of the community will live on for as long as it is cherished.
If you would like to take part in this commemorative project, click through the menus on the left to find a topic that is close to your heart. You may like to contribute a personal reminiscence or perhaps you would like to write a historical account of a period you are familiar with. Whatever your preference or interest, the site is designed to accommodate them.
